other locations for walleye?

as the western basin report seems like it's own twilight zone episode, is there any other places I could try around there? I'm driving from Chicago area anyway and was wondering if the Detroit river still holds any eyes? most everyone on these boards seems to fish the area that I'm somewhat familiar with (port clinton, marble head, oak harbor area) what about maumee/maumee bay? I realize that the migration of fish and patterns but I'm trying to learn as much as I can. I realize there's more to throwing out a bobber and a minnow. Now that I have a boat I can learn but now I feel like I don't know anything about fishing. time to subscribe to Walleye insider!! Thanks guys
