Reef Fishing
We made our bi-annual trip to Erie August 25 - August 30, 2010. We are big fans of night fishing. Launching out of Wild Wings, we fished Niagara, Toussaint, Locust, and Crib reefs at night with top water crankbaits. We had a great time! We didn't limit out each night on walleyes (2 guys) but we came close catching 10, 9, 8, 8, each evening. We lost quite a few but that was fun as well. It was a fun trip and a safe one and I don't think that anyone could have asked for better night weather. It was perfect. Best bait was Rapala X-Rap and Bass Pro XPS lures in chrome blue. We caught most of our fish in less than four feet of water. At Niagara, fish were caught snap jigging in 13 feet of water. And most people think that the technique is limited to spring fishing!
That's it until next year!
Be safe out there.

Awesome report. I love casting husky jerks or reef runners in shallow water for walleye. I have never done it from my boat, always in the fall off of the piers.
