Great first trip!
We had our shake down trip Sunday to ensure everything is working and caught our first limit of the year. Left the dock around 8a and made a short run from the Portage over to the finger in the cove. Jigging Pearl and Purple hair jigs. Seemed to like Pearl better with the dirty water. Started slow, but bite picked up around 9:30a and was solid until the wind laid down around noon, then slowed waaay down. Got our 12 by 1ish and headed in.

Re: Great first trip!
Nauti,
Nice report. Just a friendly FYI on posting a fishing report. A fishing report should be clear and concise. Using terms like "Portage" and "finger in the cove" may be familiar to you, but many people reading your post have little or no idea what those two terms mean. It's best to use the actual names for places, such as "Portage River" or "Camp Perry range F can". Yes, I know there are a lot of local terms used for places. But people reading these forums are not always familiar with the local terms, or the terms used by a lot of fisherman. The rest of your report was fine.
Best to keep it simple with the Main Four:
1. When (date you fished and the time of day).
2. Where (as close to the spot as you are comfortable saying. Sometimes people don't want to say exactly, to protect their "honey hole", so they may give a general area).
3. How (jigging, drifting, trolling, what lures, what depth, etc.).
4. Catch (number of the fish caught, you may add some short detail such as "better in the early morning, dropped off after the sun came out")
Thanks for the report. Keep posting them.

Re: Great first trip!
Just to be clear - is "finger in the cove" the same as "F Can?"

Re: Great first trip!
It’s slightly South and between G & H cans of the Camp Perry Range.
