Better MODIS satelilie image
There is a way to get the Lake Erie NOAA MODIS Satellite image closer to the size it used to be, and it has a zoom function.
Go the Great Lakes MODIS site:
MODIS '-' Coastwatch Great Lakes Node
Choose the Lake (Dataset), Year, and Month (month is already default to current month and day).
Look at the three buttons below an image. Click the aqua green buttom at the right that says "files".
When the files screen opens, click the second, or lower, file of the two - the ".tif" file. It will download the image to your computer. It will not automatically open, you'll have to open the file. Once open, you can move the image with your mouse and zoom in. The image gets more out of focus the more you zoom in, but you can get a decent look at the various water clairities a lot better than the standard image.
Re: Better MODIS satelilie image
Thanks for the report. I had looked at the site but didn't know how to navigate it. This will help on my decision on where to fish. I am fishing first week of June with my brother and couple of our kids. It's their first time and only the second time for me on my own boat. Thanks to everyone sharing info on this forum, I'm getting more confident and plan on making more trips. Thank you to everyone that has made post on this forum.

Or, you can use this site.... EOSDIS Worldview
The cool thing about this site is, you can place your mouse over a spot on the lake, and it will give you the gps numbers of that spot.

Do you have the gps numbers showing in the bottom right? If not, it's probably in the settings someplace.
