I have seen several posts about safe boat sizes. I have a Targa 17 1/2 foot walk-thru deep V made by Tracker Boats. It has a 25" transom and 98" beam. Is it safe enough for Lake Erie?

I think so. I fish on my friends 17 1/2ft tracker almost every weekend. Just watch the weather forecasts. When we are walleye fishing we run out of turtle point and you dont need to travel very far to catch fish.
It is not the size that matters. Where have I heard that before? Honestly, it is all about making good decisions. When I was very young, I had several great days on a 16 foot Lyman. My dads first boat was an 18 aluminum. it is all about making good decisions....Good luck
Thanks. I appreciate the information.
mainsale you have the same boat as we have yes it is a good boat for on erie but you have to use your head so you dont get caught out in those big waves
I've been going out on a 17 1/2 foot Alumacraft fiberglass bass boat and have had no problems going at most 10 to 15 miles out. Just watch when the East wind picks up as the Lake can get choppy in no time at all.
