Lots of marks from Cranberry to Vermilion yesterday, but the bite was slow. There seemed to be more people trolling than anything. Going to try again today. Hopefully the water has cleared up a bit.
Yeah that's all I've been reading everybody's trolling nobody catch nothing on Jiggs huh
We went out of Vermilion yesterday, headed northwest to about 17 FOW. There was a fair-sized pack waiting for us and we could see patches of clear water. Bite was pretty slow, but we worked hard to get 9 eyes and 2 nice SM. Purple jigs, blade baits, and Rippin Raps were used. One knucklehead in a smaller speed boat (with a loudd motor) trolled right through the pack. We could hear that thing for a mile after he left. Still was a nice day on the lake.
We fished out of Vermilion Saturday and Sunday. We finished with just a handful of walleye each day. We caught a bunch of 5+ lb small mouth and about 25 perch. All but 2 of the perch were over 12 inches. 4 of the perch were over 14 inches.
Most walleye came from a purple 1/2 oz jig. Most of the perch came from a drop shot rig with a minnow we just happened to throw in. A couple of walleye and smallies were caught on the drop shot also.
Walleye jigging was a bit slow, but it was certainly nice to see some of those jumbo perch out there. I haven't caught such big bass away from the islands in probably 20 years. Lake is looking healthy!
