Geneva 8/2
Following the advice of several people including charter captains and bait shop owners we ventured out to the 04 to the 08 on 7/31 and it was a struggle finding fish of any size. We tried everything from dipseys with worms to wire back 300'+ and cranks off the downriggers. A blue herringbone JRT on wire caught a 24 inch steelhead. What I really caught was my first sunburn of the season. We ended up NE of ASH and enjoyed a return trip to the marina crashing thru the "2 feet or less" for an hour and 22 minutes.
Yesterday I tried a different approach and to my surprise it worked! Running due north to the 56N and 55W I passed 3 boats trolling a west to east pattern in tandem and I knew this had to be a good sign. I ran a half mile past them and set up 2 small dipseys back 222' at a "2" setting and the big dipseys without the 0 rings back 144', at a 2 1/2 setting. Bright Stinger spoons did all the work: Nascar, JagerBomb, Mixed Veggies and Watermelon at 1.8 mph and occassionally bumping it up to 2.5. I didn't put the boat in the water until 9:30 am and we were done before noon. Happy August.....
