Finally a "skiff" of solid water.... Maybe there is hope for some hard-water fishing yet this year!

I've been watching the satellite images for a few days now. Looks a bit soft yet but promising for at least a couple weeks anyway. The weather isn't looking to bad either. Looking forward to another great time on the the ice if it will be granted to us who enjoy the hard water season for the marble eyes.
1 sled went in today off Catawba state park. Very large crack.
You are going to freeze Matt after where you been
is there ice or not! whats the scoop are there people fishing?
Not enough safe ice to warrant non-locals to start wondering out... I've seen some reports that the Sandusky Bay has some ice close to shore thick enough. Many locals fish less than 25-30' offshore for perch there.
East Harbor has some shanties on it I hear and they are catching some blue gills I suppose.
One guy tried to take a snowmobile out of Catawba I heard yesterday... He no longer has that snowmobile.
No, for the most part the ice on Lake Erie is not safe, nor really even formed yet. There is a slight crust of really thin ice in parts of the Western Basin. Most of it is all still open water.
