Camp Perry Closed to Public Ice Fishing

Port Clinton, OH – Due to facility damage incurred as a result of excessive use during the 2014-15 ice fishing season, Camp Perry officials have determined it necessary to prohibit public use of the area for ice fishing from this date forward.
Should conditions become feasible for ice fishing, parking access will be granted to guests staying overnight in a Camp Perry Lodging facility ONLY. Parking in designated areas will be authorized by display of facility-issued parking permits only. All others will be towed at the owner’s expense.

(I called Camp Perry this morning and they confirmed this message I found on Facebook)

Heard the news. It stinks that people acting like idiots ruined a great access point. I saw so many people disobeying their requests last yr that I ws worried this would happen. I'd like to see em sell parking permits or something to help offset the cost to their infrastructure but I'm sure this was already discussed and they figured it wasn't worth the hassle,

Wow and I don't blame them at all. I seen this coming. It was not that long ago it was just a few locals that parked there. It was not so much that once this access got out through the internet and it then became a mass invasion, but the trash and damage that was left in the aftermath for them to clean up and repair.

And your right Carpn it does stink and it only takes a few to ruin it.
