I'm retiring my old sonar and replacing it wih a new Hummingbird unit with gps. Is it worth the extra expense to add an sd card with either Navionics East or Lakemaster NE? The unit comes preloaded with gps software. Opinions welcome.:D

I would say no the software they come with is pretty good plus you can add it later if you don't like what you see I have a lowarance gen2 it came with lakeinsight its has the better contour lines and fishing areas just my opinion

Some units maps are pretty decent, wait and see. Make sure it has the fence:)
Thanks for the input guys. I'll sit on it until I see what it has pre-loaded. I seen that Navionics was compatible with the Hummingbird on one dealers site.
I have a hummingbird and it works great with Navionics card it gives me what I need for Erie and also lots of waters in the NE .
I use the LakeMaster Map in my Onix. The contour detail is amazing. I use the different colors to mark different depths, so when I'm running up by North Bass, for example, I can cut the corner and miss the shallow spots. ;)
