It's been a long time since used an Erie dearie.Prefer to cast weapons but the same concept.I would hook worm head first and I only used half a worm.To cast,I would cast perpendicular to your drift,or toward bow or stern.Count the drop to figure out depth fish biting and reel, pause,reel,pause all the way in.Change count in drop till start catching.In windy days,dragging works too.
