Transom mount trolling motor
Does anyone use a transom mount electric motor for trolling. I'm sure I need 24 volt system. My bow mount is getting hard to control from the rear. I sit in the back so I would like the convenience. I have a 17' aluminum foot v-haul total weight is probably around 2000 pounds.
Re: Transom mount trolling motor
Invest in a 80 lb. terrova and you will be very pleased set the autopilot and pay attention to fishing not the trolling motor
Re: Transom mount trolling motor
Cyan has it right
I have 19 ft lund with Terranova
Can run the trolling motor from anywhere in boat via remote
Light wind days you can troll with it alone
Heavy wind days you can use your main motor to push and guide with trolling motor
Set a direction and it will hold the course
Great if are alone in boat
Mount the trolling motor in the front so it has the leverage to guide boat by the nose
Even when your in the back you can steer via the remote
Re: Transom mount trolling motor
I decided to bite the bullet and lay down some money for a new minn kota bow mount powerdrive with bluetooth. Had to go with the riptide because the fresh water version has a national back order for 2 months. Lots of people fishing and they can't get people to work to make them I guess. But that's okay I'll put it on my cobia in south florida in 4 years. Can't wait to try it out.
Re: Transom mount trolling motor
Update on the powerdrive. Didn't buy the riptide. Found the v2 70/60/24 with wired pedal and bluetooth on Amazon for 869 going to put the ipilot kit on it later. Talked to minn kota and they said ipilot motors are backed up till July. This was my best option. Wish I would have bought their stock a couple years ago.
