Cancel July Charter?
I booked a walleye fishing charter for the morning of July 16th out of Bolles Harbor, Michigan to celebrate my father's 50th birthday. I started dropping hints to him about summer fishing on Erie and he made it sound like it's not a good time for walleye. Should I cancel the charter?

Not true! I would just make sure you're with the right charter. Ask how they have been doing.

Bad walleye fishing beats no walleye fishing in my book. Might be just me though.

If he is planning on staying in Michigan waters , I would consider cancelling for sure. I personally would look to the East in Ohio to show him just how good summer fishing can be. Captains fishing the Lorain area and to the East can show you fishing that is just as good as the Spring bite in the Western Basin for both size and numbers.

There are still a lot of nice 5/6lb walleye being taken in Michigan waters. Bigger walleye can be gotten in Ohio waters. I'd bet most Mi charters also fish Ohio waters, right now mostly towards/around west sister. It mostly depends on the client, if they want to fish Ohio waters or not.

I don't know that much about Michigan waters, but the western basin around the islands in ohio are still great for eyes. and farther east in the central basin the fishing doesn't get going good until july. I plan my trip to Geneva ohio around the middle of july and in aug for great eye fishing.

May wanna read up on the reports on ohiogamefishing. The bite is on fire right now from Lorain to Bula. The Pennsylvania guys are killing them as well.

Eyehunter charters will be moving to Ashtabula next week. Have openings in later July. Combo trip of perch and walleye are fantastic but they come on strong between mid aug. and mid sept. Call Jim @ 614-327-7144
