300 grain Hornady SST with 48 grain IMR 4227 CCI 209 primer. Its topped with a Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff and a Harris 9"-13" bipod. I have shot 4 deer over 200 yards with that load, and I have never had a bullet stay in a deer with that gun. I have shot 25 or so deer with that gun and not one ever took a step straight down.
Fishkiller, that's similar to loads I first tested yrs ago. Nice to hear you've gotten such good results with the gun. Yep, Bang, Flop.
Who wants to go to work for me so I can hunt more!!
I'm using 250gr Hornady sst with 100 grains (2) pellets. Haven't played with loose powder loads yet. You guys are lucky with the savage that you can shoot smokeless powder.
For me - still doing that. Work, work, work. BUT starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I have to work so I can buy toys from Fishkiller. :)
The rut has really amped up now at any part of the day here on the west side of Monroe county. Duck hunting been good too. Teal and woodys are still hangin around. Good Hunting everyone.
