    Smile Brobeil question

    Hey guys,

I think I have finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a brand new Evinrude-ETECH 130 hp for my 1992 19'5" Blue Finn Spectrum. I wanna get my transom checked out to make sure it is in good shape ( I am pretty sure it is) and I think I will start the process in a week or two.

I just got sick of running all around WNY looking at crappy assed used engines in the 2,000-3,000 dollar price range. Evinrude has a financing special at the end of this summer and I like the idea of having a warranty for 3 years.

I know engine manufacturer questions lead to nothing but arguing, and I have done my research and feel pretty confident about my choice. The only question I have is what your opinions are on the local Evinrude dealer--Brobeil Marine. What kind of experiences have any of you had with them? I know they have been a round a long time, but I don't know how long they have been a Evinrude dealer---the longer the better.

Just lemme know your thoughts if you would fellas.

    Matt

Mine not so good over the years, I like silver lake marine better. A little side note on the E-Tec, last year while in Port Clinton on our May fishing trip we were at the dock and a guy got towed in that had a 150 E-Tec, we helped him load the boat on the trailer and got to talking to him, the current motor was seized up he and he was more than aggrivated come to find out this was his 7th E-Tec they kept blowing up. Needless to say when we saw him this year he had a brand new Yamaha 150 on his boat and couldn't be happier. This is not the only failure issues I have heard of among other issues. When they are flawless they are one of the best engines out but when they start having problems they suck because of all the computerized parts they have on them. Good luck (Imo I would look at the 4 strokers)

I bought a used johnson kicker, came with remote cables, along with all of the mounting hardware, ez steer bar and had them install it and couldn't be happier. I dealt with Fran himself, he was very straightforward and honest, answered lots of my questions up front, and in the end they ended up doing more work than they expected and didn't charge me a dime more, even after I offered to pay them more. (I am self employed myself) I considered buying the hardware myself and installing it, but it came out to be buy it all myself and save $250ish, or pay the $250 and have them install everything. A no brainer in my book, considering my lack of experience, and the fact that a lot of work on this boat is a PIA, which maybe is just the way boats are haha. They also never tried to talk me into buying anything. The only negative thing was that the work took longer than expected, but I suspect that is the nature of boat work at certain times of the year.

    My one experience,
