    Default Buffalo: Small Boat Harbor

Can't say I have been very successful compared to the last two yrs.. Finally got on a program that works well. Want to thank, Chad, with 16- 18 ft lund. He was having success with putting down riggers so they touched the bottom then lifting them up a few ft.

Had seen him catch fish next to me the previous day. Without downriggers I came back on today with the following rigs.

30 lb copper wire rig attached to two watermelon walker 107mm diver. One had black electrical for change. (Not necessary)

two 107 mm watermelon walkers on copper: 110-135
two #1 dipsy on 50 lb spider wire 175-200 depending on depth. Pink worked, assume red will. Didn't try other colors..started blowing tow much.

Setup over 53, and get good boat control with lines straight.
copper starts at 125 at 1/2 setting and spider wire at 175. After trolling speed is obtained guide lines down till you see it tap-tap on bottom and bring it up a couple ft. Keep working it this way as your depth changes.

Before wind came up with went into about 45 and came back out. Last troll we went until 41ft.

Lead core 9 back, worked when we could drop it on a turn..which were impossible after 1:30.

What worked..below. What didn't work for us was black watermelon or a thirty jet. Also tied 20 jet a middle setting without success.

Two are from Rainbow sports and one from hitech..

    8 yellows:

Default Small Boat harbor launch II

Fish the bottom is the ticket here. Fished yesterday and got three in short period.
Walker 82 mm diver at 190 on two setting. Black watermelon willow from Rainbow sports
Other guys were more successful then I with 4 oz lead , let it hit bottom and allow it to come up. Green was the color.

51-46 ft with the wind on US-Canadian border

Took three lost one yesterday 5 miles due south of Port Colborne in 65-70 feet of water. Smallest 6-1 largest 8-1. Only one caught on the downrigger set at 60' on black and copper worm harness. Others using free lines and slip sinkers and green or purple worm harnesses. Chatter on the radio indicated that most boats in the area weren't having much success but some reported 10-11 in the box.

Edit to add. Trolling at 1.5-2.0 mph, 50' back from the ball.

how deep do you think you are with those slip sinkers?

    Default depth of slip sinkers

These are 2 oz slip sinkers. We're getting down to 50-60 feet with them. Easy to use. Let out sufficient line until you're just tapping the bottom then bring it up a few turns.

around 11am we decided to troll for yellows. On the line starting in 58 and going towards buffalo at 2.3 ground 1.8-1.9 water with dipsy 2 setting 130 back willow black and green from Rainbow sports. Black watermelon, was ok. Also got two with green-fire tiger holographic on copper with dipsy on one about 110-120 back. Actually both on turns that slackend copper. these were the largest fish. I go faster then most but use large willow blade.
