Fished Barcelona yesterday and managed a two man limit. Glad I brought my full arsenal of lead core because the school of fish we located to the east and concentrated on were not in the top 40' like we heard. So we rerigged and did business with 7,9,10 color running harnesses. Fish were most active in 75' between 45'-60'. West bound troll with the chop took 80% of them.
Oh yah, happy 4th and we caught a slob laker too:)

Boy. You guys are doing great. I was away from the computer for a few days. I was out yesterday managed 1 walleye and 3 silver bass. I went out of SP to just outside of the shipping lane between SP and Pt. Albino. US side of coarse. Trolled west - nothing went east then had only a little action compared to you guys. Then I started to get the low voltage problem again. :( Switched to battery # 2 and big engine started.
Bailey you be the MAN yesterday. Congrats.
You have the best time on the water to fish catch ratio than all of us here. LOL
sounds like everybody should come east not west lol

It isn't great out there I found an active school almost to SP on the fence it took some searching. My trolls were figure 8s over them and they were moving west in 5 hrs we were 2 miles from first way point marked.
Boxed four fish from 4 to 10 lbs 2 oz. lost one today. My first ever walleye over 10 lbs! Was so happy I almost fell out of the boat celebrating! Fished NW of Dunkirk. Fish scattered, 65 to 80 FOW caught most on #1 dipsy on 2 setting 125 to 150 back. Purple pink copper harness.
Come on guys. Tell it like it is. Is the fishing better nearer Buffalo or nearer the Catt? I have to come from Rochester. It sure would be nice
to get on the eyes good a time or two.
Thanks
Frank
Catt. I have 13 in box now
Went out of sbh on Monday, 11 to 3pm. Out to the red buoy again, 43fow to 47. Boated an 18 and a 21, lost one at boat, 1 silver bass, 1 shithead. Silver took the eyes.
That's the way to go - you be "The Man" today. But a little birdie told me you ended up with 15 for the day. ???? Bailey was " The Man " last Saturday. I can only say another famous person from this website and myself got 1 walleye, 1 laker, and several silver bass.
P. S. Jim - If your signature gets any bigger you'll take up a whole page. LOL
P. S. S. Jim - If I wear my Ultimate Fishing of WNY wrist band when I'm fishing does that make me a pro staffer?? LOL ;)
cant wait to try out some new harness patterns we just tied saturday...im itchin to see if we can up last weeks #s
Haven't been out in over a month, after reading previous posts, just wondering where the best place to launch to get some eyes? Any info on where to launch and what 's working best would be much appreciated. Thanks and good fishin.
Slapshot (Tony)
anyone know how the lake looks after that rain the southtowns got yesterday?
Out of SBH this morning 6am-12pm 40-48ft 3 eyes and limitless sheep. The lake looks good except for a fair amount of trash floating around.
Lookout for large logs/trees. Saw several today that would easily wreck your lower unit and maybe even worse.
I fished the Buffalo end this past week from SP to the departure buoy. I caught a few eyes. Monday I'm going to Barcelona. Enough said. Until something changes or proves me wrong go west.
headed out of sbh in the am
killed em last weekend
everyone should go west
i don't think theres any walleyes in buffalo!!!
stay tuned report to follow
Fished from 4:45 till 8 tonight ended up 6 for 8. near Myers 5 color lead took 4
Good morning all,
I have read through 200 pages of this thread trying to learn all I can. I finally have a day to go out. Unfortunately it is a Sunday. I hate being anywhere near the marina on weekends but it is the only day I have. As I said in a previous post I only have two downriggers and two rods set up right now. I will be at SBH around 5am and go west working the international line. At the moment I am using harnesses. Last Monday I had good luck with a perch colored harness. If anyone else is out I will be monitoring the radio. I also am open to any other suggestions as to where to go.
Went out the Catt yesterday and boated 4 and 40 silvers. Sounded like a tough bite for everybody. Much debris (Logs) the first mile out, I don't recommend leaving harbor in low light or a good clip:(
After reading more and talking to people, I have decided I am going to try Barcelona tomorrow. I have been hesitant because it is 70 miles away and I don't know where to go. Any tips would be appreciated. --Mike
There are still in shallow, too, in spots... Marked nothing for two hours fishing off the city until finding a small shoal out around 32 feet. 30 minutes after the sun went down, some gobs of bait start showing up out of nowhere and for the next half hour boxed three (two were a double). Orange beads and copper willowleaf blades with watermelon tape was the ticket. And a slower trolling speed than I would have suspected, just above 1.0 mph. I felt lucky because I'm sure if I hadn't stumbled onto that small shoal, I probably would have been blanked that night. I had my kids out on the boat earlier in the evening, so there wasn't going to be time to head further west... Good luck to everyone fishing this weekend, should be very good out on the water!
Interesting how all the fish I've caught so far this summer close to Buffalo seem to be within an inch either way of 16 or 21, which would match up well with the DEC survey data showing strong year class hatches on this end of the lake for both 2010 and 2012.
The fish have reached Buffalo. Seen some mayflies yesterday and go figure, hammered the eyes near the fence near Seneca Schoal this morning. 50-55 FOW all on purple and black harnesses, 4 colors of lead. Marked a ton of bait. Only one sheepshead, and a bunch of eyes.
Watch out for debris, on our way in ran into a mine field of big tree branches from the creek outflows.
Fished out of SP the last 2 days, and boated 8 Friday, 5 Saturday..... all on harnesses. Decided to troll vs. perch fish......
