I found that wunderground isn't as accurate as http://forecast.weather.gov/ Enter a zip, get the new map, and click on the water, and wham, nice waver/wind report.
I typically check both to see if they correlate. If they do, I know what to expect. If they don't, I tend to choose the better forcast but prepare for the worse one

Good advice, because it's a bit of a crapshoot. In my experience when forecasts have called for one foot waves I turn around about 10 percent of the time because it's too rough for my 18.5' Lund. Didn't even launch a couple of times last year after talking to guys at the marina. Nature of the lake.

    But try this one too

    http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marin...tationID=45142

If you click on the weather conditions tab and the appropriate place on the map you'll get a report of current conditions recorded at the Port Colborne weather bouy. I think it uses some sort of averaging algorithym because it seems generally to underestimate the height of the waves.

Going to go out for the first time sometime this week. Looking like Wednesday or Thursday. We'll be on the Canadian side and sharing info on the lake frequency.

2nd on double D harnesses. Those of you that tie your own harnesses. Where do you get your supplies? I used to make ours with an old fishing friend, but he always had all the stuff and would tie harnesses for that particular day. Does gander carry blades or is it a bass pro/cabelas order only?

Hey copo i ordered some thru janns but paint falls off ill have to find names of other places but you can order custom painted blades one guy down near Binghamton has good blades if i remember his name. Another is rainbow sports in tonowanda they carry all supplies but i get beads thru janns or at joanne fabrics. Janns has 3d beads that seem to glow. Especially the purples.

    Default Pretty windy

Despite my better judgment I did go out today out of SBH. I started at the int'l marker buoy (42 fow) and started trolling into a stiff west wind toward Seneca Shoals at 2 mph. It was so windy that it was hard to keep my 14' boat on course. I had to be on the motor 100% of the time. Despite that, I fished 2 hrs with no luck. Buoy station 45142 said winds were 17.5 kts and 2foot waves. ********, they were 4' easy. Maybe they are talking about the peak wave levels not the peak to trough.
