I went out solo today out of the catt from 7am until 12:30. fished in 80-100fow and only caught one 26in walleye on a stick bait in 85fow with a #1 dipsy with the ring, set to zero and out 145ft, it was sunny when I caught it then clouded up shortly after and the lake flattened out.

I marked some fish here and there from the bottom to about 28fow but no takers. I also tried using 10 color leadcore with a stick bait, side planners with harnesses, and a #1 dipsy with the ring and harness.

Buoy only measures the up of a wave from its water level point not the down. You can count on doubling any buoy wave height and I think...them some most of the time. Nice catch CaptJoe!

I think buoy 45142 measures from the bottom to the top to give the total wave height...Last week when it was real windy and that lady drowned...it reported the waves at 5.6ft.

The data for today appears accurate to what I experience while fishing between Dunkirk and the Catt.

Dan Greenhead is right they only measure from level lake to the top of the crest of the wave. Also one thing to keep in mind is that the data is only transmitted from the buoy to the server once an hour so its not real time all the time the data can be as much as an hour and a half old.

My report is we fished west of center rd. the past 10 days or so and we put 110 walleyes in the boat. We fish no shallower than 85' and no deeper than 95' everything came on 7-10 color, Musky (8oz) torpedo divers on dark colored black with pink blades and any blades with purple in it worked well also. Also Purple Wish, Root Beer, Raspberry Lemonade . and Mystery Machine Long Shallow Bay Rats on the leadcore. Yesterday we had 3 fish over 9lbs and 4 over 8lbs, we did have 1 17" and the rest were 6lbs or bigger.
The clients were pretty happy to say the least. I do have some really good video on the water wolf that I will have up the next few days when I have time to edit it down.

That would be amplitude and therefore incorrect. See the illustration here...http://cdip.ucsd.edu/?sub=index&nav=...ts&xitem=waves

I looked into this weather buoy deal a few years back because along with Port Colborne buoy, one off Roch on Lake O...are just not true to the wave conditions under say 2 meters. These buoys are 3 meter discus style so like a 10' diameter, made of very heavy gauge aluminum and are ballasted. They have all kinds of sensors and one called a Inclinometer that measures the "heave" or vertical rise to the top third of a wave. It takes an average over I think 20 minutes. It's not rocket science to figure out that the size and displacement the buoy along with mooring chain restricts it's ability to accurately measure waves until they become large enough.
