Anyone want to go drift fishing tomorrow?
I would take ya up on it joe but gotta drive mixer in morning. The life of concrete kinda blows lol.
Bailey your always welcome but apparently you did?n't check the marine weather for today. Gale force winds and 10 - to 12 ft waves are forecast., Can't you tell it's the; weekend and I'm off. Have fun with the mixer.
Capt. Joe , 8 -10 footers make for a nice drift, fast enough to make the lures work nice.:)
Last i saw was 2 fters ha ha. Yeah lineman good srift for marlin maybe, blame joe he is off lol
I was getting the 12 wave report from the open water erie report. I saw that they never got that big. But there was a lot of wind damage around Buffalo yesterday. I wonder what it would be like out there with those winds? I went to the antique boat show yesterday between the raindrops. Many beautiful kept up & restored boats were there. Another windy day for lake Erie.
The weather buoy did say 4.6 ft waves. That would probably = at least 9.2 ft waves from crest to trough. What a day for drifting. You could cover a good distance in a short time.
Yeah I agree on that doubling the wave buoy from crest to trough for "actual effect". When you are out there in boat that's sure as heck what it looks and feels like. Then you have that occasional wave doubling effect when two waves combine, always a fun one haha. And I haven't even been out in anything white knuckling yet. Don't plan to either, but I guess most of those aren't planned...
If it calms down this week I may sneak out with wifey for perch during the week.
Anyone been fishing out of SBH or SP? If so, any suggestions?
Shorthanded, last report I heard was off center rd or west of that in 80-85 fow. I beleive my buddy did 7 or 9 on monday.
Went out of S P towards Abino. Trolling for walleye. One hit. Took a slow 10 - 12 mph south west th 65 - 70 ft of water. Nothing, noda, zipo,. It got rough. Decided to go in. Circus at S P trying to get out. A$$holes cutting in front. Unfortunately i knew that one. It was great to get out. Barry thanks for the magical bait.
Milt nobody was out there directing. That sucked. I got yelled at before for going out the in. That was a while ago. today guys in line commented to me about not going out the in. ??? But today anything goes. Hay I gotta tell you I went out Thursday in a BLOW BOAT. It was great. Good people. Great time.
What time of the day did you launch at?
I launched at 9:00 and there were no problems. But i came in at about 1:00 / 1:30 when the lake really began to kick up. That's when many people decided to get off the.lake.
I'm surprised that nobody was there "directing traffic", I have been launching on weekends this summer only at sp, and there have always been at least 2 guys working the launch zone. And collecting your $7.
Fished the SBH today, so. gap /mid gap inside the wall, nothing, zippo!!
Not much going on here, wind s*#ks!
looks like the wind will be blowing to at least thursday this does s#@k winter is coming fast
Water spouts, small craft warnings, waves @ 4.6 ft which = 9 ft. Oh boy. I bet the fish will be hungry after this blow.
I have been on vacation in the western basin since Thursday on Put in Bay ( no im not fishin) and it has been nothing but wind here also. we have had 3to 5 footers here since we got here, and cold also.
It's depressing as h#ll, day after day high winds and waves wtf
im a new fishermen to the lake iv been getting out to the lake every Sunday for the last few weeks i caught a nice 8lbs walleye right around the middle gap on a bottom bouncer and a worm harness. also caught a few pike inside the wall i was just wondering if anyone had any info on were the fish would be this time of year. thanks for any info
Hey welcome to the board youngbuck it depends on what kind of fish you are going after, most certainly walleye at least! I'm sure a few people will comment on them, mostly I go after perch.
Im looking to catch some walleye! I have a 17ft boat and i have been to the lake 4 or 5 time but i stay inside the wall and troll end to end but i would like to get out side the wall but im not really sure were to go. I have a map of the lake.
Well a not so bad spot is out the south gap, work your way out that way by the wind mills so to speak. There is a marine forecast you can access on line as well as a weather buoy for lake conditions that I like to use.
Anyone Muskie fishing in the river?
No. But where would you launch? I went by the Ontario St. launch and it was full of seaweed. There is construction going on in the area also along the road next to the river. I don't think you could launch a boat without clearing off the ramp. ????
Would have to clear Ontario ramp off. Is foot of Sheridan launch closed?
could check out/try the launch at the foot of sheridan dr. near the power plant for river access. Also the SBH leaves a ramp open til the end of Nov. near Dougs dive.
If its not blowin sbh isn't a bad run for the river. I'd pretty much fish from the RR bridge and around strawberry. Anyone fish for Muskie? I've never landed one only hooked into a couple bass fishing. 8lb test, no steel and a 4ft toothy fish doesn't ever work out.
I even remember a YouTube video of people drifting squaw island and catching steelhead on 3ways and sacs that's always a good fall fishing idea
I didn't go to the foot of Sheridan. Isn't that a Tonawanda launch site? You have to be a resident? Ths launch at the foot of Ontario use to be good. In the past I've seen many cars / trucks in the parking lot. But not last Sunday. I was always concerned how safe your vehicle and trailer are there with no security. ??
I launched at foot of Sheridan. It's a public launch. But they charged $10 on weekends. Ontario I've never had a problem. But i don't stay there too late. And I'm sure they see my big lifted diesel and think they don't wanna meet the owner lol. Ontario during the day is cool
Has anyone dipped for emerald shiners recently? Are there good numbers by the foot of Ferry?
I dipped at Ferry last Wed. & they were sparse, it took a while to get 100+ but it was very windy there also lots of junk in the way.
Heading south tomorrow. Heading right into SANDY - going to Myrtle Beach. I can't win. The last several weekends it's been crummy - wind, rain, water spouts. Couldn't get out. Now I have a week off and where am I going - INTO A TROPICAL STORM. It will probably turn into a HURRICANE by the time I hit it. I'm starting to believe I am the JONAH.
