Went out of Lorain on Monday in larger seas than expected - good walleye chop. Started out at 7 Am and went to solid 50 feet with good marks. The wind pushed our drift at about 0.75 -1.5 MPH. Fishing was slow as we picked up shorts and SH's. We moved to about 2 miles offshore in 40 feet of water and the action picked up. Looks like the wind stacked up bait fish and the predators followed. In about 3 hours, we caught 6 good-sized (20-23 inch) walleyes and a 9-inch perch. The location was off beaver and the Vermilion condos. Cold front of weather may keep them nearshore - will be at it again today and/or tomorrow.
