Trolling out of Vermilion 6/10 - First Steelhead.
Last Friday evening 6/10, left our Vermilion dock at 6pm and fished off the Castle (West of Vermilion) till sunset.
Picked up the same program from previous Sunday, Stinger spoons 60-90 back on 2 oz in-lines, at 2 mph in 32 FOW.
Fast action on shorts, white bass and sheephead.
Color did not matter, unbelievable marks!
And. ... Finally ..... Our very first Steelhead. Sank the board and fought all the way to the boat, spitting out the hook in the net. Weighed in at 6 lbs.
Here is a video of a lovely sunset evening on Lake Erie:-

Nice! They are like a runaway torpedo when hooked. I caught my 2nd steelie, 28" FO, out on the sandbar on a harness trolling for walleye. I was cranking in a sheephead when I saw my other board take off like a rocket. I handed the sheep rod to my buddy just as the steelhead made the first of three jumps. Two jumps and a couple of scorching runs later we had 'em in the boat.
