    Default Planner Mast

I have purchased a Traxtech 72in. Planner board Mast. I was going to make a mount so I could drop it in the front seat pedestal. The sales person did not recommend this because of too much sway. They recommended to install it on the floor with a backer plate using the six inch mounting plate that comes with it. Has anyone done this, and what if any problems you may have ran into. Or what would you have done different? By the way I will be mounting this in a 2010 Lund Explorer.

    Default Mounting planer mast

A good friend of mine mounted that unit on top of his cutty cabin, used the backer plate and ran two guy lines to the bow to reduce movement and stress. He says he has no complaints other than he wishes now he had used a 12 or 18 inch track and backer plate instead of the 6 inch track and backer plate to help spread out the stress placed on the mount while pulling his big boards.
