    Default Newer Boat

I just purchased a newer boat and with its alum. hull and dock it for the season the boat seems to be not to be coated with a good hull paint but since it's will be docked I feel it should have it coated and as it is alum. and maybe sit at a dock thru the season. I have looked at the available paint with little info on alum. hulls. Any info on this sure would be helpful. The last boat was fiberglas and it was easy but the change is new as the paint is limited.

It used to be that you had to etch (acid wash) the hull part that is to be painted to get the bottom paint to adhere well. I am not sure if that is still necessary or not. It may be a good idea to call some place like BPS or Cabela's or another marine shop that paints bottoms to find out their recommendations about hull painting below the water line on an aluminum boat.

    Default Paint

Thankx Wakina, a talk with West Marine and they told me Interlux has one and by the looks of it will have to wait for fall the prepping will be time consuming
but it is doable. I guess I'd rather get to fishing.

Besides in the fall you will know exactly where the water line is for masking off the bottom for the new paint job!
