I beleive the M260 is a bit cheaper. Call Gil Travis at the number I posted above. He has killer prices and his support is fantastic.

I plan on buying an Airmar transducer for next years fishing season for a Lowrance HDS-7, you stated talk to Gil for info and killer prices,. Does Gil have a listed website that can be accessed.

    Thanks

I don't know about that transducer, however, I have an HDS10 with the standard transducer and it reads pretty well at higher speeds. Just make sure you set your frequency (ping speed) to 83hz or 200hz while running. Fish will show up as short orange vertical bars, vs hooks when running, but you can see them. I also keep my eye on the "instant view" window as I am running. If I see lots of orange blips in the middle of the water column, I know I am marking fish. I will then usually slow it down a bit to get a better view. When fishing, I like to have my frequency at 83hz or 50hz.

There is a pretty good web-site on this topic called "Doctor Sonar"

    http://doctorsonar.com/

He has an article on marking fish at higher speeds with an HDS: http://doctorsonar.myshopify.com/pag...ish-with-sonar
