i have my vacation time in for work i will be off from the june 18th till june 27 based on the way the fishing has been do you think that i will stand a good chance of getting into some eyes by the islands during my vaca. i am asking cause i have a very long drive from pittsburgh and towing my boat makes it even longer.

There is no doubt the fish will be there and still in large numbers. The big question will be the mayfly hatch. It can get slow during the hatch. The hatch has not happened yet, and I don't think anyone has a clue as to when it will happen this year.

sounds like it's starting to happen. was in port clinton last weekend and no mayfly's. Wife has been up there for the past couple of days and she has not mentioned them so I would assume it isn't happening yet around Port Clinton. Just further west.

The hatch is on in Port Clinton. Fished around the reef complex today and saw some pretty good masses starting to form. L

depending on alot of veriables, there can be a second hatch that starts right after the first one messes everything up. you can run smaller baits/harnesses to "match the hatch" . did you think about fishing out of lorain or vermillion instead? the big girls are really going there right now. alot deeper water and farther east so the mayfly hatch some times isn't as bad and will be a few weeks away unless we get really hot temps everyday.
