From a friend is this true?

My research says 99% of the time the walleye will be in the muddy water when next to cleaner water.

The mud humps next to the channel in Maumee bay.

Put in at bayshore and motor a crossed this side or that side.

Mud humps are better on North side.

I'm looking to try this out this weekend. Have any of you launched out of Cullen Park? Is there a better launch? Any tips on what tackle to use, or where to try it? Or are there better places I can try to go with a 17 foot flat bottom john boat with only a 10 hp motor on it.

I keep seeing people mention "the humps" on various facebook groups, etc. How deep are the humps? Where are they located?

With your boat I would launch from the Luna pier public ramp. It is not near as nice a ramp and not as deep but should not bother you. IMO it would be a much safer ride and it is closer. It gets shallow with sand at the mouth, so trim your motor up.

They are in Maumee bay between Little Cedar Point And the Toledo light, you can see most of them on a chart. They are also on both sides of the channel with shallow areas on both sides, so if you go use your chart/chartplotter. If you draw a line from little cedar point to Turtle island, anything west of that line is the "one hook rule" zone. Most guys fish East of that line but not all. Blade baits and Hair jigs are the bait of choice, take black, black, black, purple and JD green.

I always take minnows, don't always need them, but better to have them. And use a stinger on your hair jigs, most fish are hooked on the stinger hook. Don't hook your stinger in the minnow, let it swing free, Easier for the fish to suck it in.

    Good luck,
