Default What happen to the boat and motor forum(prop paint)

I'm not seeing it on my mobile app? Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of paint to use on a prop. I stripped it down to bare aluminum and primed with zinc chromate primer but still needs a top coat. I seen a post on iboats forum said to use tempo paint but I can't find it anywhere. Has anyone heard of this. Thanks for any input

About anything will work as long as it's not bottom paint. Bottom paint will cause corrosion to start. Especially bottom paint with copper in it.

When I posted this I was on my mobile and did not have access to my files on my desk top! I posted it more as a warning about bottom paint and Aluminum than any other reason. Bottom paint will cause/allow electrolysis to set in and cause pitting of the prop blades especially so if it contains copper, some of the other anti fouling additives in bottom paint can also cause it. With that being said here is a link that you may find useful in painting your prop.

Thanks guys wakina I did folow what crazy Charlie said on iboats heated the prop in a chamber at work before priming. I'm going to order the tempo paint hope it lasts. Wakina I see you dock at beef creek my friends dad has the property across from the campground we pull some big crappie and bluegill out of that marina maybe I'll see you there sometime.

    Thanks again Matt

Once the prop is cleaned handle it with clean gloves, it keeps the natural body oil off the bare metal and keeps those oils from reacting with the bare aluminum. Once painted then you can handle it bare handed.

Sounds good. I'm in slip 44. Pro Line 231 WA.
