    Default Fishing Friday 5-26-17

Taking my wife and 10yr old daughter up this Friday for their first trip this season will be coming out of Portage river to do some casting for eyes or perch if the eyes aren't biting. Anyone been doing any good around Bessie area casting or perching? Any advice will be greatly appreciative...

It's been tough with the wind and dirty water. Should get better if the weather cooperates. K can, E can etc
    Good luck

If the water is cleaned up by then, you won't have too go far out of the Portage River...they were straight out in front in 14-16' of water last Wednesday.

Don't be afraid to try 2-3 miles out of the river if water looks decent. Where are you launching or docked in the Portage,

Was curious because I will be coming out from across the river from you at Nugent Canal. I try to stay away from the public launches on holidays.
Again there are walleyes just a couple miles out from the river yet to be caught.

    Default Perch & Walleye

I have done well for perch just east of H can, near Camp Perry and south of G can.
You will more than likely have to get goldies and not shiners.
If you run into a lot of white perch, go to deeper water.
You can sometimes get a bonus walleye fishing for perch.
I have found that the goldies work well for me on a spreader, bottom and no bling.
    good luck~ Water Dog

Bryan, I'm at Johnny just across the river as well. The info I pm,d you should help. I fished 3 days last week. If you have yet to be out be careful, thete are a few logs stuck in the river right in the middle channel area. One just past the rt 2 bridge, one about 3/4 to the train bridge. Can't see them when the water is up with the ne wind, but can see them when it goes down to the more normal levels. When the water goes down I need to go put some red jugs on them so when I ride jet skis they are easily seen. Did not go down after this weekends water rise so who know what else got stuck
