    Default Bandit Trolling Question

I finally was able to purchase DJ's custom Bandits, very nice by the way. My question is, if I'm trolling using 30lb braid and I'm targeting a depth of 25ft, do I need inline weights to get to this depth or is it a matter how much line I let out? Any guidelines?

    It's REEL

IMO you're going to need to use weights. I would put a 2 ounce 6' ahead and run 60' back. That should be pretty close depending on speed. You could also half hitch a 2 ounce with a rubber band 20' ahead of the lure and then run an additional 40' for a different weighted affect. Just keep in mind that using weights is very speed dependent in determining depth, so slight variations in speed will affect the depth of the lure. One other thing to remember is that if you're running weights and you make hard turns and are fishing close to bottom, the inside lures are going to drop like a rock and most likely become fouled with zebra mussels.

I run Bandits on 20# XT Trilene off Church Walleye boards back 65' with no snap weights and no problems. I limited out before 11:00 AM yesterday on black head Wonderbread and IbFrozen and nary a zebra. I found braided line tends to slip out of the board clips if you pull too fast and hard. Not so with the Trilene. (1/2 mile east of Mouse at 1.7 mph in 25 FOW)

I have tried for over a year to log on to the OFG website without success. They tell me my Email address is in use and they are right. It's mine! I've tried to contact them again with no success. If they really care, they can reach out using "my" Email:[email protected].

Thanks for all the feed back everyone, very helpful! I run the braid because I run Amish boards. If I add smaller boards I might go to mono.
