Default Jigging Season Just Around the Corner

Well it has been a long and odd winter. Safe Ice in MI on mother Erie. Walleyes are finally being taken through the ice in 17' of water off of Stoney Point. Limits were taken the last week of February.

I think we are all ready for the open water to get here, another week or so and Walleye should start showing up in the Maumee and Huron Rivers.

We would like to thank all of you who visited the NEW Matthews Bait & Tackle last year.

We have increased the selection of Walleye & Perch gear over the winter, we will have the largest selection of Walleye gear in Southern MI. this year. We have over 20 different colors of Hair Jigs this spring 6 custom to the store.

We reopen for the spring season March 15th and plan on posting fishing reports every Monday, Wed, and Fri. this year.

As usual good luck & Tight Lines,

    Capt. Mike

New to the site. Just registered. Have spent the last 1 1/2 hours reading post about everything. Really interesting info. Mostly readin' 'bout the Western Basin. Seems like a great site and good people for reliable info and stuff.
    Question???
Never been to the western basin in the spring but planning on headin' north the first of next month. Is it hard to get the lake right as far as weather during the month of April?

It has kind of proven out that the third weekend in April is normally about the best for the the jig bite and a little more stable weather.Lat year we had a bunch of us from another website all get together for an outing that weekend and the weather and the fishing was fantastic. We had guys that would get their limit within a half an hour. They would take them in and clean them and then go back out an fun fish the rest of the day.It was not uncommon for boats to put fifty or sixty fish in the boat in one day. This went on for the entire weekend. You never had to be over a mile offshore.
