Trying something new
Thursday we went out of East Harbor heading NE with a SW wind and a good chop. I was going to go NE of Kelleys up to the line, but with the forecast of afternoon storms, I decided to stay closer. We stopped near the bouy at Kellys Island Shoal and trolled with the wind. The fish were there but we caught probably 4 sheep for every walleye. Around noon we switched from harnesses to Tru Trip 40s and scorpian spoons. I just got them and was eager to give them a try. It worked out. We caught the first fish before we got the board on and after that it was fairly constant but still with a lot of sheep. Biggest walleye was 28 in. with only 4 throwbacks. Had a great day and the wind had calmed, so we had a pleasant ride in.
