    Default 3rd week of may

I got a weeks vac. planned the 3rd. week of may. i wil be staying at Lamberjacks marina, I was wondering if the reefs, a can, b can would be a hot area yet. last year we had to run out towards west sister & beond, found a pack charters, started to mark fish caught one here one their. we figured them out after a while, small flicker blade 2 small split shot about 18 inches above hook with 1/4 nightcrawler on hook. great days after that trolling michigan stingers .08 1.5 mph on the gps. lots of talk about weight foward rigs. will this type of tactic work in my time period or not? I love to troll but with the price of fuel maybe we all will be doing some driftig?

    Default 3rd week of May

I would definetley try weight forward spinners. Last year I used the same
gold Erie Dearie almost the entire season. Never lost it, and caught several
limits with it. Mix up your retrieve. Bring it back just fast enough to keep
the balde spinning. If that's not working, bring it in fast. Let it sink to the
bottom or start realing as soon as it hits the water. Eventually, you'll find
    what they like that day.
As fas as where they'll be, that's up to them. They seem to move in and
out at this end of the lake. One week you might have to go out past West
Sisiter and the next they'll be right back by the firing range in 10 feet of
water. It always helps to ask the bait stores. Most of them will try to
steer you in the right direction.
Oh, if you don't think I really believe in weight forwards, check out my
    log in name.

    Default weight forwards

I agree with weight forward's post. We caught more fish on Erie Dearies (Chartruse/yellow: Chartruse/red) than on any variation of mayfly rigs. It all had to do with the speed of the retrieve. Always fish the lure all the way to the boat. Several times last year we caught most of our fish when the lure was close to the boat and less than 10 feet down. About 50% of the time we were using a fast retrieve.
