Micro BS
Does anyone care if a gobbey or a zebra muscle ingest part of your toothpaste or your kids zit scrub. Every time we have a rainstorm the sewage treatment plants overflow and the runoff of cow crap and chemicals close every beach in Erie county. If we can't filter out micro beads, what else is being flushed into our lake. Our government is being run off the tracks with this PC BS, God I hate politicians who spike the ball with this type of environmental cah cah. So instead of upgrading outdated infrastructure, we make everyone have zits and bad teeth (tongue in cheek). What's it cost to have some college kid ID the seaweed on your boat trailer? Sorry, a little cranky after getting skunked the last couple times out. Any thoughts?

If they eat it the bigger game fish eat it , it's not aND if you don't mind those plastic beads stuck in your gums keep using them. Go to a state of the lake meeting and you'll understand more. Let alone let's think of where all that crap ends up eventually in the oceans, yeah I'm all for removing the plastics or going biodegradable out of corn or soy products.

It still doesn't address the fact that the sanitary plants can't filter them out, they have to be inferior with human waste as well. It just looks like the wagon in front of the horse for feel good politically correct reasons rather than the fact the technology for sewage is a 100 years old. What percentage of days this summer were there high bacteria warnings along Lake Erie beaches in Erie county? That's the same water we're yanking eyes out of. Maybe I'm just not informed, I only rely on common sense. My tap water has more chlorine in it than I put in my pool.

They are not closing beaches because of cow crap. They close them because its human crap from the sewage systems being to old to handle the volume of waste alone in them then add any amount of rain water or snow melt off and bam an overflow.

Unfortunately the micro beads are a big threat.

Either way the problem needs to be delt with. There have been extensive studies on the matter and it's been proven to be bad for the environment. Do I think waste treatment plants should be filtering better? Absolutely, but how do you redo entire sewer systems underneath cities and towns? Micro beads need to be removed from hygiene products and replaced with something biodegradable.
