  1. Also , when you fish in the summer do you use harnesses and spoons or do you still use cranks? I guess my question is , will cranks catch fish all year ?
  2. THanks for the info Wes, i have heard of all those places you mentioned have been to catawba and have launched out of Huron a couple of times. Purchased a sonar/Gps combo and a couple of line counter combos from cabelas over the weekend. Next will be rod holders and planer boards. Like your idea of the tree style rod holder, looking into that. Where do you buy your boards? Thanks. Mike
  3. Wes, Mike again, just wondering what boards you use church off shore etc.? Also when you do go to erie where do you launch from? Do you do it in one day or stay? I am stayin for a week in july but if i can find people to fish with and want to make a weekend out of it , do you know of a good place to stay. Thanks again Mike (maybe someday i will run out of questions..... lol)
  4. Tried to return your call yesterday evening and left a message. Try me again.
  5. MIke, I'm no pro at it but I can get the job done. An optimum set up would be to have all your trolling rods and reels the same. It makes it much easier to read what's going on. Line counters are a must. You can get by with the clip on line counters that attach to your rod. I use 7' Ugly stick rods that I buy at bass pro for $29.00. They are used by alot of guys on Erie and are great rods. You can actually pick up Okuma line counter reels for about $35.00 each. Inline planer boards are the easiest to run. Do you have rod holders on your boat? Feel free to give me a call sometime and we can discuss it all. 513-383-3612. Wes
  6. Hey reeltime, a few questions if you dont mind. You seem pretty knowledgable on this trolling thing. I have fished erie in the past, but only drifting/casting, would like to start trolling.Just bought a new 17 ft. crestliner this year. Now i really dont know what i am doing as far as trolling.Spent the winter watching videos trying to learn.Due to the lack of fishing partners, work shedule, distance from the lake ect., i am not sure how often i will be able to fish (erie). I dont have a problem with the distance it is finding people to go with.Anyhow, not sure how much the wife is gonna let me spend, she says get what i need, but doesnt realize what we are talkin'. Can a person troll with bait casting/spinning,or is trolling rods/line counters a must.Any advice/suggetions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike
