will they be on bottom or will they be suspened i have been getting them about a foot off bottom in close
Yep and thats where the smaller/younger fish will stack up at. No thremial cline (spelling) in that shallow water. The big fish in deep water will stack up about 2-4 ft above it. Thats where all the bait will be and its real dark and cool down there. With just the amount of light that BIG walleye like. And that majic temp they seek out this time of year. And thats where the big feeds are. Bait+Cool temp.+ Low light= Big Fish. We've seen it for years.

Sorry guys, You want big fish and a lot of them. Then your going to have to work for them. If you want smaller fish,Then stay in close or head out to the west. Your choice.

so you are saing that most of the young eyes will be close to shore at any time and the bigger eyes are out deep so you could fish for them in close any time that is where we have fished all year so far so if we went to get bigger go deeper i lost one that was in the 10 to 15 lb rang snapped 14 lb line at boat in close to shore like 35 feet thanks for info i fish the walnut area

Well, checked it out for myself today. Wanted to go out to 37/16 (about 11 miles NNW of Lorain) where we limited Monday evening, but the wind was roaring out of the SW. We fished 31/15 for about an hour and half, got one, then headed in. We trolled the shoreline, from St. Anthony's church on the east side of Lorain to the Sheffield Lake launch ramp. Caught three in about an hour. All three came in 20-25 feet of water on a crawler harness trolled behind a small dipsy (size 0), 40 feet of line out, then online planer board. Two of the fish were small, 16-inchers, the third was a nice 4-5 pounder.
